Hey
For the past year, I have been testing a new AI tool almost every single day.
Not playing with it. Actually using it. Putting real work through it. Running my content, my research, my writing, my workflows through tool after tool after tool.
And for a long time, I thought collecting more tools was the same thing as getting better results.
It is not.
I wasted months jumping between shiny things that impressed me in demos and did almost nothing for my actual work. The AI tool space is designed to make you feel like you are falling behind. New launch every week. New hype every Monday. And if you are not careful, you end up with 20 bookmarks, 12 subscriptions, and zero actual results.
So I stopped trying to track everything. I started asking one question about every tool I tested.
Does this make me money or save me real time? That is it. One question.
And after testing hundreds of tools, I can tell you with confidence that only a handful pass that test.
Today I am giving you the top 5. Not ranked by hype. Ranked by what actually moves the needle.

The 5 AI tools that actually deserve a place in your life
#1 — Claude
I will start here because there is no tool I use more or think about less. And that is exactly the point.
Claude is where everything happens for me. Writing, thinking, building, researching, drafting. The output is better than anything else I have used consistently, and the Skills feature changed everything. Instead of re-explaining myself every single session, I built my instructions once. Claude already knows my tone, my format, my rules. Every session starts from context instead of zero.
The other thing worth knowing is that Claude recently hit the same revenue run rate as ChatGPT. The same number. With a fraction of the resources. That tells you something about which product people are actually staying with.
What you do with it: Build a Skill for the one task you do most often. Writing, research, summarizing, whatever it is. Do it once. From that day forward, you stop wasting the first 10 minutes of every session re-explaining who you are.
#2 — Notebook LM
This one is for anyone who needs to learn things fast and sound like an expert.
You paste in articles, PDFs, transcripts, research, anything. Notebook LM creates a custom AI around only that material. You can talk to it, quiz it, and get answers that come only from what you fed it. It also creates audio podcast-style summaries you can listen to while commuting.
The reason this makes money is simple. The person who understands the topic better than everyone else in the room wins the client, closes the deal, and creates the content people trust. Notebook LM cuts your learning time by more than half.
What you do with it: Take any topic you need to get up to speed on this week. Paste 5 to 10 good sources into Notebook LM. Hit audio overview. Listen while you walk or commute. By the time you sit down to write or speak about it, you are already ahead of 95 percent of people in that conversation.
#3 — Perplexity
I used to call it a search upgrade and leave it at that. Then they launched Computer.
Computer is Perplexity's answer to agentic AI. You give it a task, it goes out and actually completes it. Research, browsing, pulling data, building a summary. End to end. In head-to-head tests it has been beating other tools on completing real tasks with less back and forth from you.
For anyone doing research-heavy work, market analysis, competitor breakdowns, content research, client prep, this replaces three hours of tab-switching with one prompt and a result.
What you do with it: Next time you need to research a topic, a competitor, or a market, give Perplexity Computer the full brief instead of opening 10 browser tabs yourself. Check its sources. Use the output as your starting point. You will get back at least two hours.

#4 — Granola
Every other AI tool on this list only works as well as the information it has access to.
Granola is the tool that captures that information without disrupting anything.
It sits quietly inside your Zoom calls. No bot joins. Nobody has to accept a recording prompt. It captures everything, structures it automatically, and integrates with tools like Notion. After two weeks of using it, you have a searchable knowledge base built entirely from your own conversations.
The best version of Claude is a Claude that knows everything you said in every meeting. Granola is how you get there.
What you do with it: Connect Granola to your calendar. Let it join your next five calls without doing anything else. After a week, check what it has built. You will have cleaner records of your own thinking than you have ever had before.
#5 — Higgsfield AI
If you do any kind of video marketing, this one will save you serious money.
Higgsfield gives you access to multiple generative video models under one membership. B-roll, short clips, AI video, all without booking shoots, finding locations, or paying a videographer every time you need footage.
Video is the highest-converting format for most businesses and the most expensive to produce. Higgsfield cuts the production cost dramatically while keeping quality high enough that most viewers will not notice the difference.
What you do with it: Pick your most common video use case. A product walkthrough, a testimonial-style clip, an explainer. Try building it inside Higgsfield. The first few will take some trial and error. By the tenth, you have a repeatable production workflow at a fraction of what you were spending.
My final thoughts
Here is the thing nobody tells you when you are deep in the AI tool rabbit hole.
The tool is never the answer. The workflow is.
You can have access to every single tool on this list and still waste your time if you are jumping between them with no system. The people actually making money with AI are not using 20 tools. They picked three to five, built real habits around them, and stopped treating every new launch like a reason to start over.
My actual daily stack right now is Claude for creation, Notebook LM for learning, Granola for capturing everything, and Perplexity when I need real research done fast. That is it. Everything else is optional.
Pick one tool from this list. Use it for the next 30 days before you add anything else.
The compounding happens when you go deep. Not when you go wide.
