Hey

Two weeks ago, I caught myself doing something embarrassing.

I had Claude open in one tab. My Gmail open in another. My Google Drive open in a third.

I was copy-pasting an email into Claude, asking it to help me reply. Then I opened a doc from Drive, copy-pasted the relevant section into Claude. Then went back to Gmail to write the reply.

That whole process took me about 9 minutes. For one email reply.

And the worst part? I had been doing this every single day for months. Just grinding through it like some kind of human data transfer cable between my apps and my AI.

I thought I was using Claude. I was just using it wrong.

Then I started noticing other people doing the exact same thing. Someone in a productivity group asking how to copy Notion pages faster into Claude. A creator on X complaining about how tedious it is to paste meeting notes every time. A guy in my DMs asking if there is a better way to feed Claude context.

Everyone was stuck in the same trap.

The trap has a name: copy-paste dependency.

And there is a one-click fix most people do not know exists.

First: 30 Seconds to Unlock Everything

Before the 7 apps, you need to do one thing.

  • Go to Claude.ai.

  • Open Settings.

  • Click Connectors, then Browse Connectors.

That is the door. Most people never even know it exists.

Once you flip that switch, Claude can read directly from your apps without you pasting a single thing. You just ask. Claude already has access.

Now here are the 7 connectors worth turning on right now, plus the exact prompts to use with each one.

1. Gmail

What it fixes: You stop reading every email just to figure out which ones actually matter.

Prompt to use: "Summarise my unread emails from this week and flag the 3 I must reply to today."

That is it. Claude reads your inbox, identifies what is urgent, and tells you where to focus. No more scrolling through 47 newsletters to find the one client message that actually needs a response.

2. Google Calendar

What it fixes: You stop guessing at your own schedule and wasting time in meetings that should not exist.

Prompt to use: "Find 30 free minutes with Sarah next week. Then list meetings I should cancel."

Two tasks in one prompt. Claude reads your calendar and tells you where you have space and where you have clutter.

3. Notion

What it fixes: You stop digging through 40 pages of notes to find the one thing you wrote 5 days ago.

Prompt to use: "Search my Notion for everything about the Q3 launch. Summarize it."

Your best thinking lives in Notion. This connector makes Claude your search engine for your own brain.

4. Google Drive

What it fixes: You stop hunting for the right version of a document across 6 folders.

Prompt to use: "Find the latest version of the pitch deck in my Drive. Summarize the key slides."

The version control nightmare dies here. Claude finds the file and reads it for you.

5. Granola

What it fixes: You stop losing action items that were buried inside a 45-minute meeting recording.

Prompt to use: "From yesterday's call, list every decision made and every next step assigned to me."

If you have ever left a meeting feeling unclear about what you are supposed to do next, this connector solves that permanently.

6. Canva

What it fixes: You stop spending an hour turning a text post into a visual.

Prompt to use: "Turn this post into a 5-slide LinkedIn carousel. Use my brand colors."

Idea to design in minutes. Not hours.

7. Gamma

What it fixes: You stop building decks from scratch when your brain already has all the content.

Prompt to use: "Turn my Q3 report into a 10-slide presentation. Handle the structure and design."

You give it the content. It handles the architecture and the look. You just review and adjust.

The Real Problem Was the Habit, Not the Tool

Here is what I realised when I finally started using connectors.

The copy-paste habit was not just costing me time. It was costing me momentum. Every time I had to switch tabs, find the right doc, highlight, copy, paste, wait, I was interrupting my own thinking. By the time Claude responded, I had already lost the thread of what I was trying to do.

Connectors remove that interrupt. Claude and your work live in the same space now.

The author who originally wrote about this framing put it perfectly: it is like owning a car and pushing it down the road by hand. The car works. You are just not turning the engine on.

Start with one connector. The one tied to your biggest daily annoyance. Turn it on today. Run the prompt. See what 9 minutes of wasted effort feels like when it takes 30 seconds instead.

Then add the next one.

Do not try to flip all 7 on at once. Build the habit with one first. That is how the change actually sticks.

Stay curious, talk to you tomorrow.
